Day 6 - part 2

These mountains were really nice, and the roadstwisty and steep. In fact, tis road that connects I-95 in Nevada to US 395 is one of the best motorbike roads I've seen. It will have you leaning and flipping back and forth to weave through the many long sweepers and tight switchbacks.

But I was just putting through, taking in the scenery, trying to conserve fuel. I finally reached the peak; there was a sign 7,xxx something. Then kept her running going downhill, that eventually opened up to a large flat valley. But it wasn't the Owens valley; there was still another mountain range to go. The GPS still said like 72 miles to Bishop. I knew I wasn't gonna make it.

I found a large farm, with many vehicles, equipment, dirtbikes, and quads. Out of desperation, I pullin to see if I could buy a gallon or two. But the nice man explained they did not, but that I should try Fish Lake, about 15 miles the opposite direction.

I coasted there through a long valley, and filled up at the combo market and 1 gas pump circa 1940.
Then I buzzed back the same 15 miles and took the road up to the Westguard pass. Another, even better motorbike road, and now I had the juice to twist on the throttle a bit and enjoy leaning through the many twisters.

The day ended back at Bishop,CA. Tomorrow should bring me up the great Hwy 395 to Minden, then home.
